Are you looking to get your UK documents legalised for Kuwait? We manage the legalisation process end-to-end, covering both the FCDO apostille and the Kuwait embassy attestation.
Also, for many trade papers, certifications by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) may be required before the consulate stamps the file. We manage this stage, too.
E-Apostille:
While the UK offers e-Apostilles for certain documents, Kuwait has not yet adopted this digital format. Therefore, a physical legalisation certificate is required for your documents to be recognised in Kuwait.
Translation:
Arabic translations of UK documents is only required if the receiving authority requested translation.
Document bundles:
The embassy accepts bundled documents.
Important notes:
If attestation through the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) is needed, two copies of each document must be submitted to the London Chamber. Please note that express service is not available through the ABCC.
For certain commercial documents (e.g., invoices, Certificates of Origin), the Embassy attestation fee may be calculated as a percentage of the sale price, which can result in higher costs in some cases.
The Embassy accepts multiple documents under one FCDO legalisation (an Apostille), EXCEPT for personal documents intended for visa applications.
For personal documents meant for visa applications:
- Medical certificates must include the specific test results outlined in the visa instruction form.
- UK Criminal Record Certificates must be issued after the Entry Visa is granted by the Kuwaiti authorities. The original Entry Visa document issued by the General Department of Residency Affairs, along with a notarised copy of the applicant’s passport, must be presented.
Each document requires individual certification, FCDO legalisation, and Embassy attestation.
To attest a child’s birth certificate, the Embassy requires copies of both parents’ passports and a copy of their marriage certificate for their records.

How the attestation process works
We’ve streamlined the document legalisation process to help you avoid delays and document rejections.
Here’s how it works step by step:
Step 1: Choose your service
The right attestation route depends on whether you want to legalise personal documents, commercial documents, or a trade bundle. We’ll guide you to the appropriate service that meets the requirements of the requesting authority.
Step 2: Send your documents to us
You can drop off your documents at our London office in person. Alternatively, you can ship them to us via Royal Mail or DHL.
Once we receive your documents, we’ll start the legalisation process immediately.
Step 3: Receive your legalised documents
Once your documents are fully legalised for Kuwait, we’ll begin the process of returning them to you.
You can collect your documents in person from our London office. Alternatively, we can ship them back to you via DHL or Royal Mail. DHL has an international reach, meaning we can facilitate the legalisation of your UK documents even if you’re currently outside the country.
Why Kuwait attestation trips up most UK applicants
Kuwait attestation differs from the standard document legalisation process because the country is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention. You’ll need embassy attestation in addition to the FCDO apostille.
Additionally, its authorities have other unique requirements, including the bundling, medical certificates, and POA requirements we highlighted earlier.
It’s best to let experienced professionals like us manage the Kuwait attestation process on your behalf. We check every document against the requesting authority’s requirements, helping you avoid costly document rejections.
Processing times and expedited options
The FCDO offers expedited processing, and we can guarantee a quick apostille turnaround with our Express Service. We cannot guarantee a quick turnaround for the embassy attestation stage, as the Embassy of Kuwait does not offer expedited processing.
You can expect these processing times:
Is expedited consular service available?
Yes, the FCDO offers expedited services. The Kuwaiti Embassy does not.
